*140* 4 Alternatives EP - The Numbers / The X-Certs / Joe Public / 48 Hours

Ok, to follow up the last post, here we have another cool 4 track E.P. :
'4 Alternatives', released on the Heartbeat label back in 1979. But what's my favorite track here ? - It is 'Blue Movies, Hotel Rooms, Back To Ireland' ;).

By the way, the great X-Certs' 'Queen and Country' 7inch you will find on www.kbdrecords.com.

*139* Naughty Thoughts / Dogs Don't Lie / The Volecanoes / The City Blues Band - Meatballs

Great 'First Release' compilation on the Sleep-n-eat record label. My fav is 'Meatballs' of the The City Blues Band ! But check it for yourself :

Click on the photo to read some band infos from the back side cover :

By the way, Naughty Thoughts is the band around the ex-Rivals member Mark Edwards. They released the awesome fantastic great superb 'All Or Nothing'/ 'Weekdays' 7inch, whereby 'Weekdays' is another great version of a Rivals track and 'All Or Nothing' is the cover version of the well known Small Faces number.

*138* The Others - Birmingham Reggie / Lemmings Die

Ok, this is just an informal post. Informal in this way : How do The Others sound like ? - When I bought this single I knew nothing about The Others and could not found much information about them or any audio samples. The record seller announced it as Punk but when I put it on my turntable for the first time I was quite disappointed (and still are). But get your own idea of The Others :

A-Side: 'Birmingham Reggie'
B-Side: 'Lemmings Die'.

By the way : the single was released in 1978 on City Records which released also the 'Office Girl' single by The Stoat.

*137* The Jets - Original Terminal / The Iceburn

A-Side I like : 'Original Terminal'. B-Die is quit weak I mean : 'The Iceburn'. Released on the fantastic Good Vibratrions label in 1978. You find a lot of information about the Jets on punk77.co.uk.

Check out these great live footages filmed in 1978 with a Super 8 mm camera : (1) + (2) - Great stuff !

Later The Jets changed their name to the Tee Vees and released two more singles : Angel Eyes / Sweetnighter  and  Fatman Crossing / Dr Headlove. I never heard it, so let me know if you have some Mp3 samples ...

*136* Roll-Ups - Hold On

A-Side - 'Blackmail' - is already posted @ Youtube.
Personally I prefer the B-Side - 'Hold On' !

Released Dec 1979 on the Bridge House label (same label released the Warm Jets 'Sticky Jack' 7inch)

*135* Bunk Dogger - Young Blood / What's On Telly ?

Bunk Dogger's final(?) 7inch : 'Young Blood' back with 'What's On Telly ?', released in Aug 1980.

If you do not already checked it - there is a Bunk Dogger fan site where you find some information about the band and the person (aka Tim Phillips) behind the Bunk Dogger pseudonym : bunkdogger.com. A lot of  (about 20) Mp3s you will find there too. So check it out ...

*134* Bunk Dogger - Please Don't Tease! / Magazine Articles

Here we have the fifth Bunk Dogger single : 'Please Don't Tease!' / 'Magazine Articles', released in Aug 1979.

Along with 'Woman In Uniform' this one is my favorite Bunk Dogger 7inch. We find the same concept on both singles : a powerpoppy tune on the A-side and a tearjerker tune on the B-side. I like it !

*133* Bunk Dogger - Women in Uniform / Never Say Never

Let's take a look at some Bunk Dogger stuff, concretely at three 7inches : the third, the fifth and the sixth one (in the next posts).
All these Bunk Dogger singles are released on RCA Record, this one was published in Jul 1980.

But what makes up the musical style of Bunk Dogger ? - It is all together : Pop Rock Glam New Wave Powerpop Pop 60s - sometimes emotional and sometimes a little bit freaky and overexcited. Admittedly I do not like all of his stuff but here and there it has some great moments.

A-Side : 'Women in Uniform'
B-Side : 'Never Say Never'

A-Side is a great tune ! B-Side : Love or hate it ! HeHe ! (I like it!)

*132* Pressure Stops - Crash Wanderer / Shirts

Nice stuff ! I like it ! Could not found many information about the band. A couple of band pics you find here. The single was  released on Airplay Records in 1980.

A-Side : 'Crash Wanderer'
B-Side : 'Shirts'

Both tracks are on the 'The Stortbeat Collective' Double CD (can be downloaded from musicruinedmylife.blogspot.com ;) )

*131* Chris Sievey - Camounflage

How great is this ? A computer program put on the B-Side of a 7inch vinyl single ??! - A crazy idea you think ?! - Back in 1983 Chris Sievey realized it and put an accompanying 'music video' in form of a Sinclair ZX81 program on his 'Camounflage' 7inch release.

Some guy did the great work and transformed the computer program data from single to a real program running in a Sinclair ZX81 emulator on a PC. Check it out here : 'Camouflage - Sinclair ZX81 pop video'.

Here my footage of the A-Side: 'Camounflage'. And just for the fun - if you wanna hear how it sounds like : ZX81 program sample.

*130* Warm Jets - Big City Boys / Mr. Natural

Ok, finally I got this single and here is my second Warm Jets post : 'Big City Boys' / 'Mr. Natural'.

A-Side is indeed my Warm Jets favorite ! Certainly also for the makers of 'Every One A Classic' because they put this track on their V/A compilation.

'Big City Boys' is an "infectious Powerpop song with football-like singalong chorus" (as you can read in the 45 Revolutions story).

My first Warm Jets post you find here.

*129* The Rentals - I Got A Crush On You / New York !

Female fronted New Wavish Punk Rock how I like it !

The Rentals actually were the forerunner Punk band for the Jeff and Jane Synth group. You can read about it on their homepage officialjeffandjane.com.

'I Got A Crush On You' / 'New York !' was released on Beggars Banquet Records back in 1979.

(A-Side was already uploaded to Youtube - if you want to hear it in some better quality)

*128* 45's - Secrets And Whispers E.P.

No much information to get for this record. Discogs gives us the only one : released in 1981 on their own? 45's Records label (ONE45).

Great tunes I think - this is 60s influenced Power Pop !!

A-Side : 'Secrets And Whispers'
B-Side : 'Driving' + 'Little Honda'

( Sorry for the miserable condition of my copy, there is a notable crackle in all tracks. But don't worry, finally I got this record for free :) )

*127* The Stiffs - It Was The Young Guitars / Yer Under Attack

... and finally The Stiffs 12inch, released some years later in 1985. There exists a promo video for this release - enjoy it here, infos about the line up you can read here !!

A-Side : 'It Was The Young Guitars'
B-Side : 'Yer Under Attack'

(My copy has a red cover but I only find the blue version in the www. Maybe someone knows details about the available colors and pressed amounts ? Even at the Stiffs discography site I don't find an answer.)

*126* The Stiffs - Goodbye My Love / Magic Roundabout

A-Side : 'Goodbye My Love'
B-Side: 'Magic Roundabout'

(released in 1981)

*125* The Stiffs - Inside Out / Kids On The Streets

... it is about 2 weeks ago I posted something - had a stressy time - but puh!, now I can do something for my blog again ...

Let's finish the day with some great tunes ! - The Stiffs !! Yes I love the Stiffs ! The Stiffs play high energy Glam Punky Power Pop like no other band does it !
- so let's enjoy listening to three singles : here we have the second one and in the next posts the fourth one and the fifth one ...

A-Side : 'Inside Out'
B-Side : 'Kids On The Streets'
(released in 1980)

(Here I play the re-issue on EMI / Zonophone, I own the second press too but I'm still waiting to find an exemplar of the "2 or 300 [first pressings] that came with the screen printed 'Dork' sleeve" and/or one of the "even smaller amount [that] had a lyric card insert" :-). See the Stiffs discography in detail here)
